Freyja, Witbier - 4,5% ABV

Freyja was the goddess of love and fertility, and was the daughter of Njörður. She ruled over the heavenly kingdom of Fólkvangur and lived in the palace Sessrúmnir. Freyja cried tears of pure gold and rode a chariot pulled by two cats. Around her neck she wore the Brísingamen necklace, and her Valshamur cloak made of falcon feathers allowed her to change into a bird and fly.

Sleipnir, Pale Ale - 5,4% ABV

Sleipnir was an 8-legged horse belonging to the god Óðin, and was considered the best of all horses. Our Sleipnir Pale Ale embodies the bold qualities of this mythical creature. Brewed in the American Pale Ale Style, Sleipnir is unfiltered, fresh and hoppy with an underlying malt character, combining to make a very well balanced beer.

Skaði, Farmhouse Ale - 7,5% ABV

In Norse mythology, Skaði was a giant goddess and the daughter of Þjasi. She sought revenge for her fathers‘ death at the hands of the gods, and as compensation was awarded a husband, Njörður. Skaði lived high in the snowy mountains of Þrymheimur, where she traveled on skis and hunted wild animals with her bow and arrow. Our brewmaster doesn‘t need to hunt down this beer, but she does forage for angelica seeds which are used to spice the beer.

Ingredients: Water, malted barley, wheat, rye, hops, yeast and Icelandic angelica seeds.

Taste and aroma: Skaði‘s flavor changes as the beer ages, but it maintains an underlying smoothness with a hint of cloves and pepper that come from the yeast. Fermentation occurs at a relatively low temperature, resulting in a dry beer with flavors of malt and citrus. Skaði has a spicy aroma with characteristics of wine

Pair with: Seafood, white meat, salad, soup, strong cheese and spicy food

Móri, Red Ale - 5,5% ABV

A tribute to a lost soul. In the winter of 1784, during the Skaftár Fires volcanic eruption in south Iceland, a young boy was forced to flee his home. He came upon a farm and begged the farmer for shelter from the cold. The farmer turned the boy away, and later that night the boy drowned in a nearby pond. The boy‘s ghost remained on the farm, haunting the farmer and his family for generations. The name of the boy is not known, but his ghost was called Kambholts-Móri

Ingredients: Water, malted barley, wheat, hops and yeast

Taste and aroma: Amber color with medium body. Taste of roasted malt, caramel and medium hop bitterness. Sweet, malty aroma with a bit of pine and citrus from hops in the background.

Pair with: Grilled meat, medium cheeses and desserts.

Lava, Smoked Imperial Stout - 9,4% ABV

Lava is quite unique in the Icelandic beer history and the first of its breed. Inspiration comes from the active volcano Hekla which is visible from the brewery's door and occasionally eruptions are visible from the Ölvisholt farm. Lava is a full bodied, pitch black beer with a thick brown head. In 2012 Lava was named the best Imperial Smoked Beer of the year in the US Open Beer Championship. Lava has been featured in numerous beer books, among them the World Atlas of Beer as an example of Icelandic brewing excellence. Authors Stephen Beaumont and Tim Webb claim it’s “The finest achievement of modern Icelandic brewing is this amazing, top-class smoke imperial stout, which hit the beer world, as it will your palate, like a volcanic eruption.” We couldn’t agree more!

Ingredients: Water, malted barley, wheat, hops, yeast and brown sugar.

Taste and aroma: Lava is a full bodied, pitch black beer with a thick brown head. Sweet with chocolate and roasted malt in the flavor. The aftertaste is roasted malt, smoke and warming alcohol. Aroma is smoke, chocolate and bit of alcohol.

Pair with: Red meat, smoked food, grilled food and desserts. Lava is also excellent as marinade
